The Collection is housed and managed at the world-renowned National Motor Museum, Beaulieu. From Concept to Glory - 1995 Ford F1 development
This film tells the story of how Ford adapted to the new rules imposed on the 1995 Formula One season by creating a new car in partnership with Sauber. They reflect on the successes of the 1994 season with Benetton and young driver Michael Schumacher. The 1995 rule changes meant that the winning 3.5 litre engine needed to be replaced. We see the development and testing of the new 3 litre Zetec R. Ford joins forces with Swiss company Sauber to build the new car, which incorporates improved driver safety features in response to the tragic deaths of the 1994 season. Finally, the film shows the track testing of the new car, driven by Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Karl Wendlinger. Sauber-Ford finished 7th in the constructor's championship that year.

This is a Ford Rallye Sport retrospective of the early days of rallying, presented by Stuart Turner. There are interviews with Peter Harper, Timo Makinen, Paddy Hopkirk and Roger Clark as well as other luminaries of the age. Footage of rallies from the late 50s, into the 60s illustrate the narrative. Turner wonders at the end if the 1970s will also be seen as a "golden age".

It starts with Theodore Roosevelt on safari in Africa, whilst in the UK, the Trafford Park Ford plant was opened, producing Model Ts. This is a Ford of Belgium film showing the unveiling of the new Ford Capri at the 1969 Brussels Motor Show. There are 74 different models on display in the Ford hall but the centrepiece is the brand new model, the Capri. King Baudouin does the honours and the commentary makes much of how impressed he is with the car. 279 Capris are sold during the 3 day show, which attracted 650,000 visitors.

This short film showcases the versatility of the Ford Courier, the small van based on the Fiesta. We see preparation underway for a wedding, including the floral arrangements, wine and the wedding cake, the latter of which arrives comedically at the last minute. All are conveyed safely using a Ford Courier. Interspersed with the wedding scenes is footage of the van in production.

This beautifully made film shows all the excitement of the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans race against a backdrop of all the hoopla that accompanies the event. @2:38 John Surtees - who's son would go on to die racing at Brands Hatch 42 years later. Jim Clark - A legendary driver with pinpoint control over these cars, would lose his life just 1 year later at Hockenheim...and probably should have been at Brands Hatch racing in the WSCC instead. Jackie Stewart - he who would go on to start the safety eras in motorsports, along with my favorite driver Niki Lauda....both of them sustaining life-threatening injuries in their famous wrecks. While I wish racing was more like it was in the 60's and 70's, I am glad it is much safer these days.
When one group of people was replaced by another = drop in productivity and no more innovations.

What amazes me most about Detroit is Motown and also the fact that such a large vital city could develop in a climate where, for about half of the year, you could die from hypothermia if you were sleeping outside!
